5 Reasons Why You Should Be Using Shopify 2019
In early 2019 there are quite a few eCommerce options out there and people are always looking for the best. From WooCommerce on WordPress to Shopify, Magento, and BigCommerce on the self hosted solutions. There are a lot of questions of which is the best and not a lot of people are sure which to use. In this article we are going to tell you why we think you should check out Shopify.
Ease of use
Shopify has come a long way since it was started in 2004. They have done an amazing job to keep the system easy to use but still completely customizable. This platform is a great place for beginners and enterprise level businesses all at the same time. Companies like MVMT, Leesa, and even Nestle are all using their platform. This gives their customers confidence because you know that this will work for you as you expand your business.
You also don’t have to know code to use or build your site. Even a novice can have a site up and running, selling products within an hour of making your store. Its all dependent on your imagination and the time you can put in it. Their interface is very visual and easy to manipulate. Most modules are drag and drop and can be add, removed and moved by just a few clicks.
Cost Effective Platform
Shopify is a hosted platform so it will not only be how you build it but they will make your page available on the internet. Part of this includes all of your security protocols that you need to keep your client information safe. You also get credit card processing built in, inventory management, shipping discounted rates and integration right into multiple different accounting software solutions.
Having these features built in from the start give you the ability to get started quick and to be prepared for the future of sales as they increase. Their plans start as low as $9 a month and go up from there as your requirements and sales increase. Most people start at the $29 a month plan to get started and is the best bang for your buck.
Ability to Scale
After you have your store running and making sales Shopify gives you the ability to connect with multiple other platforms to increase your reach and sales potential. Some of those include Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and even Amazon and eBay. Some of these platforms have fees on top of your sales but they can give you the ability to hit many more customers than just what is visiting your website.
Using these other sales platforms can be time consuming because you have to go to each and every page to get sales taken care of. With these connections you manage all of your customer’s orders, shipping, and communication through Shopify to keep it nice, simple and all in one place.
One other sales channel that is available is a POS, or Point of Sale, solution. This is perfect for Brick & Mortar Retail locations that have Shopify. You can use a tablet and even add a register, printer, and credit card reader and have it all tied into your Shopify site. This makes it easy to track inventory, customer sales, and future marketing efforts because its all in one place.
This can all be achieved with existing equipment or you can buy from Shopify everything you need. Even if you don’t have a retail location you can use this for your online business. If you need to setup a temporary booth at a trade show this works great. You only need a cell phone with service to be able to take an order right in front of your customer.
Whether you start as a retail location or you expand into one as your online store grows this gives you a ton of flexibility for the future.
Marketing your site
One of our favorite features of Shopify is how well it integrates into your marketing efforts. While we still recommend using Google Analytics and Facebook Pixels, the built in Analytics screen gives you a lot of helpful information about what your visitors are doing. You will be able to see how many people are adding to cart, not completing a checkout, and even your conversion rate. Watching these statistics can help you find ways to change your site and optimize it for sales.
You will also want to watch where your visitors are coming from, whether it is direct, search, a social media channel, or another website or influencer. Some of our clients started noticing traffic from a website they have never heard of and found a large audience that they never knew existed. By paying attention and starting a dialogue they were able to increase sales. This built up so much loyalty that they quadrupled sales in a 30 day window. Having this information at your finger tips is a game changer and its easy to find with Shopify.
Putting all this together shows why we love Shopify. The other platforms out there are great and we have used them all but nothing feels as complete as Shopify does.
