I was recently at a new client’s office and they were asking me about ways to increase their foot traffic while having 3 competitors building new locations around them right now.  They seemed a little worried about it but they knew they need to jump on the train and get working on finding a solution now.

With the growth in the economy right now this is a common issue we see with quite a few of our clients.  The name of the game to help with this is awareness. Below are 3 things I recommend you do today in order to get this awareness today.

First, you have to be able to post on a regular basis on your different social channels.  Depending on your clientele base you have to be able to talk/speak in the places where they are spending their time.  For the majority of people that includes Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat.  Creating content on a regular schedule not only gives your customers the ability to see you, but also gives you the ability to gain virality by a random share or comment.  You never know who is paying attention so you want to be ready.  Also if you don’t post there in a regular basis then you might as well be non-existent to that customer.

Second, you want to be creating a sense of community and openness with your current customers you have now.  From creating an event at your space to sponsoring something in the community, this can be huge.  Even though Social Media is hot, one on one interactions is a huge way to build a local business.  This works especially well for businesses that are located in small communities where some face to face time can do wonders.  You want to get to know each person that comes in your place of business so they feel special.

Third, you want to start teaching your potential customers about your value that you offer at just a price.  You want to become a solution not a commodity and decision on price is nothing more than a commodity good.  Most businesses when in a competition will play the battle of the lowest price and there is no way for either of you to win.  If your customers are accustomed to dealing with you because you are the most knowledgeable or you do the best job then price becomes a forgotten concern.
